4 Indian companies make it to the Global Dow Index : Infosys, Airtel, Reliance, Tata Steel
Dow Jones which runs the famous Down Jones Industrial Index has released a new index to track the global economy. The new index called as Global Dow Index consists of 150 companies across the world. Companies making it to the 150 list are publicly traded securities in markets that are open to foreign investment. The companies are selected by editors of Dow Jones but are chosen based on few parameters
Parameters used for Global Dow 150 :
- Size of the company
- Reputation of the company
- Importance of the company in the global economy
- Companies that can drive global economy today and continue to do so in the future
The index reflects both developed and emerging markets which makes the case for 4 Indian companies. Index has also concentrated on new industries though heavily inclined towards established industries. Predictably the list is swamped with US companies, which is followed by Great Britain and France. 5 Chinese companies figure in the list.No Indian PSU’s figure in the list.
Based on the parameters and criteria, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Reliance Industries and Tata Steel has qualified. The combined weightage for the 4 Indian companies on the index is 0.0245 on a scale of 1.
