Samsung releases 8 megapixel Innov8
Samsung joins the heated up high-end mobile phone market. First it was Apple with its 3G iPhone (though it failed), then it was Nokia’s N96. Now Samsung with its latest Innov8 has joined the market to compete with India’s favorite brand Nokia.
This new phone is an imaging beast. Powered with a 8 megapixel camera it is the photographers ultimate companion. Innov8 already has a record to its name for its imaging capabilities. It has captured and printed the biggest picture ever taken by a mobile phone in Vietnam.
It is just not the camera, which is attractive. It has 3D games playing capability and high-speed data connection for your mobile browsing. It comes pre-loaded with games like Asphalt and FIFA 08.
Other features of the phone include:
· 32 GB memory (16 GB internal and 16 GB MicroSD Card)
· 1200mAh battery
· 3D surround sound supported by DNSe 2.0
· 2.8-inch 16M colour LCD
· WiFi connectivity
· A-GPS navigation.
· Symbian operating system V9.3,
· Quad band,
· Mobile blogging
· Business card reader,
Priced at 46K, it is just too expensive for the consumers. Only hobbyists who cannot depart from a camera but would do so for convenience might prefer this phone. This has set a war worldwide for 8 megapixel phones. Sony Ericsson C905, LG KC910 and Motorala Alexandar are fighting for the space. These phones are not yet released in India. Samsung has the first mover advantage. The price is big dampener. Whoever sets the price low with the maximum features could just win.

The market is heating up with a slew of phones lined up. Which one would you chose among them?
· Samsung INNOV8 (i8510)
· HTC Touch Pro
· HTC Touch Diamond
· Nokia N96
· 3G iPhone
A little surprising thing is, why aren’t there any phones in the 20,000 range? Isn’t that the biggest market? Knowing Indian market full well, I am sure Nokia has an answer to this.
